Peekskill and Xavier

Kevin grew up in New York. He went to high school in Manhattan where he met his friend Will. His school Xavier is very close to Lizzy's apartment so we took a stroll this morning to see where he spent his high school years. We had very different high school experiences. Kevin spent his days commuting on the subway to school down town. My high school in the suburbs was a far cry from a bustling city. It must have been great to have so many options of things to do after school.

Here are some pictures of Xavier:

The Church
Xavier had short buses too!

After a walk through the city we drove up to Peekskill, NY where Kevin's childhood home is located. We met his parents down on the Hudson where the Peekskill celebration was happening. There were dragon boat races, a dance show from the local dance studio and exhibits of local art work and crafts. It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed walking along the water. His parents took me on a tour of the town and I was able to see the church where Kevin was an alter boy. He went to Catholic school for his entire life. I was brought up anything but religious but appreciated seeing the beautiful church. While we were there quite a few children were baptized. The service was conducted in Spanish and it was nice to see the families dressed in their best celebrating their children.
